Policy; Discrimination

Discovery Child Care’s (DCC) program is defined by state and federal law as a place of public accommodation.  DCC administrators and staff do not participate in  discriminate employment practices, client services or in the care of children based on race, color, creed, ethnicity, national origin, gender, marital status, veteran’s status, class, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, religion, differing physical or mental abilities, use of a trained dog or service animal by a child or family member or communication and learning styles. DCC complies with the requirements of the Washington law against discrimination and the ADA (chapter 49.60 RCW).

Anti-Bullying

Discovery Child Care (DCC) believes that all children have a right to a safe and healthy environment. DCC will not tolerate behavior that infringes on the safety of any child. A child shall not intimidate, harass, or bully another child through words or actions. Such behavior includes: direct physical contact, such as hitting or shoving; verbal assaults, such as teasing or name-calling; and social isolation or manipulation.

DCC expects students and/or staff to immediately report incidents of bullying to the staff or provider. Staff who witness such acts take immediate steps to intervene when safe to do so. Each complaint of bullying should be promptly investigated. This policy applies to children in care, while traveling (if any) .

  • Any child who engages in bullying may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination from care.

  • Children  are expected to immediately report incidents of bullying to the provider or designee.

  • Children can rely on staff to promptly investigate each complaint of bullying in a thorough and confidential manner.

  • If the complainant child or the parent of the student feels that appropriate resolution of the investigation or complaint has not been reached, the child or the parent of the student should contact the owner of DCC . DCC prohibits retaliatory behavior against any complainant or any participant in the complaint process.

In the end, Discovery Child Care is a happy home daycare where children and staff feel valued, respected and part of a big family.  We are proud to celebrate differences and want everyone to behave in a friendly and respectful manner.  Anti bias and bullying will not be tolerated. At DCC everyone is treated equally.
